Self-contained enclosures, frequently referred to as “Container SCIFs,” are primarily used for projects that require the fastest deployment time in the field, as they can ship in as little as six weeks. Forward bases/commands or sites with very limited windows of access to contractors benefit from these types of modular facilities. Built into ISO shipping containers, they are available in standard sizes of 8 feet wide, 8.5 feet tall and 20 feet or 40 feet long, in addition to custom sizes. Since almost all of the construction is completed off site, it is usually as simple as order, design, fabricate, and ship. The only site impact is perhaps a pad or foundation, the initial delivery/setup, and connection to utilities. The containers can meet or exceed ICD 705 standards, including STC 50 acoustic protection. Container SCIFs are an extremely versatile solution as they can act as a free-standing structure or be placed inside a hangar or warehouse.
